[Resolved] Users showing offline! & activation e-mail
Dear all,
I am quite new to phpnuke sites, but I have been running one for a few months now, but it has some problems.....I have checked out these forums to see if there are any solutions (so I apologise if I have missed the answers - let me know if I have) - I found 1, but after implementing the changes there was no resolve to my problem.....
Here goes by prepared!:
1. Even when I log in as the administrator - the who is online block only shows me as a guest, this is the same for all my members. I found this post:
http://phpnukies.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=527&sid=d7ff95ea5c24dd5601aa5e9defd53cc7 but after implementing the corrections to the letter I still have a problem - has anyone got the fixed index.php file for the your_account folder?
2. The site will not allow any new members - constantly get different error messages, with regards to the e-mail addresses......I managed to get one new user on after attempting it god knows how many times....then the link to activate the accounts did not work.
I apologise if any of my replies sound a bit 'dumb' but I am still learning the ropes (remember we were all in my shoes at some point!)
Anyway, if ya can help please post a message before I go completely mad trying to fix these problems.
Cheers,
Eternal Student.
running a phpnuke 6.8 site
Hi
The fix you mentioned was for Windows Hosting Only. Do you have Windows or apache hosting.
When you mentioned about the login in as the admin there are two things that commonly get confused here
- When you log in using the normal login, as in the one everyone else uses you are actually just loging in as a member on your site. This is done via the Your Account module, if you log in via this you should no longer be shown as a guest
- If you log in via tha admin.php this logs you into the admin section only and if you do not have your seperate member account loged in then you will show as a guest.
You also asked has anyone got the fixed version of the index.php for the your account module (refering to the link in your post). That is not a fix to a problem as such it is just different coding systems between Windows and Apache so there is no correct or wrong one as such, it just depends on your hosting account.
Perhaps you could provide a link to you site for further investigation and also an analyze link. Download the analyze file from below and upload it to the same place as your config.php file and post back the link
Thanks for the reply
ok - here is a link to the site concerned:
www.vet-student-exchange.co.uk/nuke/index.php
I have downloaded the analyzer - but sorry for being a complete novice - but how do I use it!?!
With regards to my hosting - I am sure it is windows, but I will check...
Cheers,
Eternal Student
Just upload the file to the same place as your config.php file and call it from a browser, thats it.
update
Thanx for the patience!!
Anyway heres my server info:
The server's linux based (Linux RedHat Enterprise 3.0) and has a standard apache installation.
and I have loaded the analyzer to the folder you mentioned & tried to call it in a browser, but it asks me to download it? Is this right?
uploaded to /nuke/analyze.tar.gz
Cheers,
Eternal Student
Sorry you need to untar (uncompress) the file first. You will be left with the analze.php file. Thats the one you need to upload.
If your hosting is apache then DO NOT do the changes in the post that you refered to in the above link. If you have done these changes re-upload the original Your_Account/index.php file from you download PHP-Nuke file.
Post back the link for the analyze.php file once you have it up
continued
ok - don't feel like I am being a bit of a dead weight around your neck, but I don't have any programs to untar the file!
Soz.
any suggestions where to get one from?

WinRAR -
http://winrar.com

WinZip -
http://winzip.com
Either of those should do the job.
done!
by the time you read this the file would have uploaded to /nuke/analyze.php
Cheers!

You have the url set wrong in admin panel, preferences, site url
You need to change it to
http://www.vet-student-exchange.co.uk/nuke
People will then get correct activation link.
Login also works fine

Thanxs!!
I would like to thank all of the php-nukies admin!! Quick and easy replies - which is great when your a novice!!
Anyway have changed the url - so no probs there now - cheers!!
Got the user online working by installing the new user block - all works fine, must have been a prob with the old block.
Anyway, thanks again!!
A very happy - Eternal Student!!
