[FAQ] Bugs

"Look, I'm not stupid with programs, but this phpNuke is full of bugs and errors - why?"

phpNuke was and still is developed and distributed as a FREE program. It is very complex and time consuming writing a site like this. As it is free - you don't have to pay for it and the person who created and wrote the program gets nothing in return. Thus, each time he creates a new version, he does not instill vast amounts of time checking it - and why should he?

Sites like Nukies were set up by people interested in getting phpNuke to work correctly and to create you blocks, modules and hacks to enhance sites.

Be patient with your phpNuke site because they are very good portal systems. All the common bug fixes and hacks are known and freely available for everything upto v6.9. v7.0 is very buggy and has been replaced with v7.1 & v7.2.

Other developers often test beta versions of phpNuke and after sometime of a general release of a version, new bug fixes are released.

As a personal preference, version 6.5 with all bug and security fixes is about the most stable version. But v7.1 is pretty good too. You can always upgrade at a later date.
