Forward Planning?
Hi guys;
I'm migrating hosts this weekend, and have a few (simple?) questions:
Due to the size of the site (~2Gb) and the fact I cannot get SSH with my current host, and the fact that trying to get cpanel to do a back up dump onto the new host didn't work......
I've had to ftp ALL the data from the old host to my machine. I'm now updating the latest patched version of 6.9, then throwing all my files into the mix.
I'm concerned, though, that this is open to a HUGE cock up. My main area of concern is with permissions on certain files/ directories. The system will be (initially) 6.9 patched, Sentinel 2.0.2 and Gallery v1.4.3-pl2.
I'll close the site down Friday/ saturday (leaving a plain index page there), and do a snap shot of the database. check the install is ok, all data is correct and works ok,, then back it up (again)
Then it's a case of upgrade nuke (recommendations?- I'm looking at possibly trying to combine my nuke and OSCommerce together into nuke2osc- not sure how mature it is yet) I'll then upgrade sentinel, gallery and add the google tap (I hope!)
I'm hoping to have the site back online at some point Monday (ish).
as I've downloaded the files onto a Doze machine, I will have lost the permissions for various files. Does anyone have a "quick list" which gives the locations of the files and their relevent CHMod?
Cheers for any help- keep your fingers crossed for me!
Andy
I should imagine any decent host would allow you to send them a tarred db backup so they could ssh it.
Regards permissions, when you upload the files the majority should be ok at their defaults, 644 files, 755 folders
There are no lists with ch'mod settings, best idea is to check any readme's that came with any addons to refresh your mind.
