PHP-Nuke Newbie - Complete phpnuke newbie? want to ask a question before installing? or have installed and are now confused? this is the place.

Desparate Help Needed..... Databases / Custom is nuke right?

Is this possible in Nuke, and if not, does anybody know of any portal or core, or script that will aloow this to work:

i want to set up a website, preferably php (i already have one running at www.gmhradio.net) but i want to create a custom on-line database for my members to be able to add entry's.

i.e. a database on vinyl owned. There will be a page where the user logs in (as normal) but then selects - add new vinyl, and fills out a form with details of name, artist, product code, price, where bought from. then submit this. This will be stored in a database.

All users shud be allowed to add entry's.

I would tyhen like it possible if users could search the database for vinyl they want, and through the PM built into the website cxore or forum, be able to PM the user that submitted that vinyl and ask if they are willing to sell it or not.

I am really struggli8ng trying to find a way of creating a customised front end to a database and giving users option of adding/searching. Any suggestions or ideas, and is it possible in Nuke? ive never used it before, but wud be very tempted to change if it is possible.

Can anyone help at all?

Database access

This should be feasable. Ive just created a gallery module that allows registered users to upload pictures to my PHPNUKE site. Details about the pictures are stored in the database. The admin module allows me to delete pictures if they are inappropriate!

is this easy to do? I have no real experience in website building apart from what i have done with www.gmhradio.net - most of this was easy to create from a core - e107.

Building the database

I built my system by analysing the way that the database (which is at the core of PHP-NUKE) was used in other modules. If you are familier with PHP then you shouldn't have any problems. Take another module as an example and build from that.

i have no experience whatsoever.

previous core was easy to set up. ran a file, it did all the work. then you log onto an admin panel and build pages from that. no coding needed.

wouldnt know what a module was or what to do with it Rolling Eyes
