PHP-Nuke Newbie - Complete phpnuke newbie? want to ask a question before installing? or have installed and are now confused? this is the place.

does PHPNuke have this kind of calendar?

I'm trying to set up a site that allows all users to post announcements about deadlines for challenges. I would like the announcements to stack up on the front page, blog-style, and allow users to comment. Also, I would like a small calendar to sit on the site with deadlines marked on it. (I imagine that clicking on the highlighted dates would bring up the announcement as a single article) is this possible with PHPNuke? And if it is, would it be possible to allow users to change settings so that these announcements can be emailed to them?

thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!

what is your website i maybe can help you with your website. I run 3 phpnuke websitea. I am really good with forums so post your website so can see what can do for you.

Yes m8...download NuCalendar....it works a treat Very Happy check your Nuke version with the calendar version.

wow, thanks for the quick responses guys! the site doesn't exist yet because i've been trying to weigh up my options. i will definately download nucalendar and see what i think of it. and thanks again!

No problem. It can be found on most Nuke download sections. I have been using it for a while now and it does everything I need.

Post back if you get any problems or have any other questions...this is a very helpful forum so you should be ok Cool

And seeing as you mentioned the word challenges I am assuming you are in a gaming clan? Give vWar a try.

actually, it's not gaming but x-files fan art. (just as fabulously geeky) i would love to get a gaming site up at some point in the future, tho.

OK well I got nucalendar installed, but for some reason the blocks aren't there (neither the little calendar, nor 'upcoming events'). They're not available in the 'blocks' admin category. I can't figure out what I've done wrong - I definately uploaded all the files and followed the instructions, and the rest of the calendar is working fine. Any ideas what's going on here? I kind of wondered if it's just my web host being weird, because it took about 20 minutes to display the image to access the calendar menu, even though I'd already uploaded that and checked the paths. But it seems unlikely. Any thoughts?

Not even in this part?

hahaha... now i feel stupid! i didn't even think to look there, and now it's all good. thanks ever so much for your help! *smacks self with trout*
