PHP-Nuke Newbie - Complete phpnuke newbie? want to ask a question before installing? or have installed and are now confused? this is the place.

Patch for ver. 7.4?

I did a clean install of 7.4 and everything works great. However I keep reading on the forums here about patch 3.1 and the various forum upgrades.

My problem is that I cannot find the patch in .zip form, only .tar . Is a zipped version available somewhere? I don't think I have anything that will extract .tar files.

Dunno what program you are using but even winzip will open tar files.

This opened it for me although winzip and winrar both did too.

Thanks for the help. I screwed something up so I'm going to start over from scratch. Is this the correct order to do things? Am I missing any steps?

Install version 7.4
run webinstaller for 7.4
patch 3.1

Now, the forum has this at the bottom:

Quote: :
Powered by phpBB © 2001-2003 phpBB Group
phpBB port v2.0.7 based on Tom Nitzschner's phpbb2.0.6 upgraded to phpBB 2.0.7 standalone was developed and tested by:
ChatServ, mikem, and Paul Laudanski (aka Zhen-Xjell).

Version 2.0.7 by Nuke Cops © 2004 http://www.nukecops.com

At this point should I run the ungrade files that come in the modules/Forums folder to get it to v2.0.10? I have the upgrade files for 10-11 to 14-15 also that would be run after the others, correct?

Once all this is done, do I run upgrade.php and then delete all the upgrade files?

7.4 comes with 2.0.10 already. Confused

To be honest I'm not sure how the patch handles the forum upgrades, these are usually required to be done sequentially, i.e 10-11, 11-12 etc

Just to be sure I'd personally do all the forum upgrades and then add the 3.1 patch

Then why are there upgrade files in the modules/Forums folder? Do I need to run them to upgrade each version before doing the other patches?

No real reason that I'm aware of, he probably just left them there to show it had been done.

Not the ones that are already there.

Everything seems to be working correctly. Thanks again for all the help Dar!

One last question. Will the themes with the matching forum styles made by Kalgash work?

Having a matching forum would be great but I want to make sure I don't screw things up again.

If it includes a matching forum theme it should say so.

If a theme has a matching forum it will contain a folder named forums within it.

FYI this remains within the theme folder and not like standard phpBB templates which would reside in the modules/forums/templates folder.

Standard phpBB templates are not suitable for use in nuke without modification.

What's wrong with their free ones? http://www.kalgash.com/free_php-nuke.php

If you're after a paid theme you could also try http://lorkan.com

The pictures don't show up for the free ones so I have no idea what they look like. The paid themes have this description:

Quote: :
PHP-Nuke Theme.
Includes matching phpbb forum style.
Flash navigation bar editable from theme.php file (it's not necessary flash knowledge).
Editable graphics (Fireworks *.PNG) and flash (*.FLA ) source files are included.
Tested in PHP-Nuke 7.0 and up.
Width 100%, 800*600 resolution and up compatible.

Bad link to Lorkan...Says to get out now.

Also I spoke too soon about everything working. When I go into the Forums Admin to add the add some forums I get this message:

"Warning: your browser doesn't send the HTTP_REFERER header to the website.
This can be caused due to your browser, using a proxy server or your firewall.
Please change browser or turn off the use of a proxy
or turn off the 'Deny servers to trace web browsing' in your firewall
and you shouldn't have problems when sending a POST on this website."

I think I broke something again. Sad

I think you must have browser issues or something.

All links I posted work fine for me, including images. Confused

But to quote your post

Quote: :

Do you have a firewall that could be causing your problems?

I've been using phpnuke for alot of years now and have never seen your error message. Shocked

It's amazing what happens when you remember to adjust a firewall and run and optimizer!

So the Kalgash themes will work? I need to make things all pretty now that everything works again! Laughing

*Edit* The Kalgash Theme works great.
