recent post disappear
when any one loggs in to my forums,they can see the list of recent posts but if they view a recent post then go back to the main forum they have all gone....any ideas
Because it is showing the posts since there last visit.
If they then go back - they are now no longer new posts since their last visit.
yea but surly when theye go back if there are more than 1 new posts they should still be highlighted
but they have visited the site... it shows items as new since last visit.
Perhaps i didnt explain clearly..
what i meant was if they look at the first new post then go back to the main forum to view the others, all the lights showing new posts have gone..
They aren't actually leaving the site just moving round the forum
Try setting the session length in forum configuration to a really high figur.
3600 is good.

I knew exactly what you meant - and the reason it happens is still what I said. Try the session length as Dar suggests... - they hit the "back" button.... and are now at forum front page or whatever - BUT they have visited the site!! - Hence the "new posts" pictures no longer being there.... because you have the session length set too short.
The session length always has been set to 3600
What are your other cookie settings?

Still the same
Tried deleting all cookies , made a couple of posts and got 3 other users to check but it didnt make any difference.Anything else you guys can think of.....

Is it really THAT much of an issue?? After all - users can look at the dates of the posts and should know wether they have read it or not...
lol Its not really an issue for me but my members are all moaners
The slightest problem and they start...lol guess i might just lock the site suggestion thread
UPDATE :
today i viewed the site from another pc while not logged in and strangely all the lights where on in the recent posts section but not in the main forum section beneath...even more strange when i looked at a highlighted post then went back to index it was still highlighted
