Half-loading admin page
I recently downgraded from phpNuke 7.7 to phpNuke 7.6 (or at least tried to). I replaced all of the folders from 7.7 with those from 7.6 on my site, but kept the MySQL database populated with the tables from my original site. In trying to run the downgrade script downgrade78-76.php, I get the error:
- ALTER TABLE nuke_modules failed,
followed by the usual, "You MUST upload the PHP-Nuke 7.6 files to your server for the downgrade to be complete." This in and of itself isn't that detrimental to me, as my site was still in its infancy, so I could recreate it easily enough. However, when I go to access the admin page now, it loads up the top normall and then goes to load "Module Administration". Directly under this heading, it says "Access Denied," although it still gives 4 icons: Content, Downloads, Encyclopedia, and FAQ.
Clicking on any of these icons, or the ones at the top, reloads the page, but doesn't change it in any way. I tried reloading the SQL database as if it were a fresh install, but still get the same problem. Can anyone help?
I'd just delete all files and tables and do a completely fresh install, if that's an option for you.
I just did that, and I'm still getting the same problem. Any other thoughts?
Edit: I just did the same thing, but with the download from this site as opposed to the official phpNuke site (still version 7.6). And now I'm getting completely blank pages...

We dont have 7.6 here, the newest version I have in d/loads is 7.4 I believe.

Yesterday I had exactly the same problem when downgrading from 7.8 to 7.6. The only problem with me is that a fresh install isn't really a choice for me as I have quite a bit of content on my site now
I noticed that the modules tbl failed in the donwngrade so I've tried manually downgrading the modules tbl, but to no avail, I still only get the top haf of the admin page with access denied errors when I click on any blocks.
Can anyone recommend other .cfg files of db tbls that may be causing this problem. Before I downgraded I made a fullbackup, so I'd be really grateful if someone could outline my options for fixing this problem.

And these are your current tables after you performed the downgrade?
If so they are exactly how they should be for a 7.6 installation.
You have definately removed the 7.8 files in their entirity and replaced them with the 7.6 files, yes?

These are my tables after the downgrade. However with regards to the actual PHPNuke files, you may be onto something. When I downgraded, all I did was upload the 7.6 files through FTP, overwriting any existing files (ie. the 7.8 files). Should I delete all of my PHPNuke files and then upload the 7.6 again?

One quick Q, how do I restrict the no. of news stories that appear on the home page. ie. I just want the 5 latest news stories to appear on the home page.

It doesnt really matter what you set this to really - it will only affect anonymous.. cos it can be changed in the Your Account module by individual users

Set Stories Number in Home: to 5 and then also set Let users change News number in Home? to No.
