IP address encoding

I have a bit of a desperate, time-sensitive issue going on. There's been a particularly violent death threat sent by a certain user on a PHP-Nuke board I'm an admin on. At this point, he hasn't made an actual post on the message board, only sent private messages, so I haven't been able to get his IP address by normal means. I also don't have access to any server logs -- only the database.

I need to get ahold of his IP address to give to the authorities. I've gone into the database and retrieved the IP that was picked up with the sent message, but it's in a compressed, non-human-readable format.

If anyone can tell me how to decode the particular IP address format that PHP-Nuke uses, I and the recipient of the death threat would be eternally grateful.

Edit: finally stumbled across the right bit of code. In case anyone else needs it, the decode_ip function is in includes/functions.php. Sorry for the useless topic.
