Installation 6x - Discussions regarding PHP-Nuke Installation and Configuration.

_NOADMINYET loop

ive asked on several forums... and im 1 day away from deleting PHPNuke forever...

ive been messing about with this for 2 weeks, and im getting desperate... in the mean time i have installed PHPBB and PHPnews on my site... till i get this fixed (if ever)

i installed it all, and changed the required fields in the config files

i know the setting are correct because the identical configs in the above php files work no problem??

my problem is this..

after going to my site with the index.php.. i get
Welcome to PHP-Nuke!
For security reasons the best idea is to create the Super User right NOW by clicking HERE

after clicking HERE i try to log in using
username God
pass Password
and end up being asked again... it never moves forward???

personally im starting to think there is a bug in the program, as too many people are having the same problem??

please help

I would have a look at this: http://phpnuke-uk.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=655

It tends to fix this problem.

Have you actually created the Admin account yet?

no dirk, it wont let me create the admin account Sad

just followed that link Cypher_489

and it doesnt make sense.... the way it instructs, is nothing like my admin panel at all??

there is no Admin/god option?

Quote: :
Enter the following code into the “pwd” field and save it.

and by clicking on the pwd line and choosing edit, there isnt anywhere to put anything, they are all drop down menus... with pre defined options in
Sad

Got a URL?

the url is
www.satchatworld.com

a new satellite site, it been up 2 days

you will need to add ...

www.satchatworld.com/index.php

to get the nuke screen

First off - not all files have been uploaded - hence there being text like _ADMINISTRATION etc. and missing images.

Secondly - that is actually a version of Nuke that we don't support (7.7 or higher) as viewing the source shows mention of the TinyMCE editor.

But as an aside - why is it also redirecting to http://www.satchatworld.com/devil.php once the details have been entered?

sorry mate, just checked... yea its the 7.8 version Embarassed

can i ask why you dont support higher that 7.7?? is there a reason i should know about lol

as for the missing files??? im looking into it.

devil.php

in the config file it says that i should change the admin.php to another name and change it in the config to suit??

dont worry, i didnt work before that change either lol

Because its an insecure pile of cack because of the way the TinyMCE editor was integrated. Keep that version if you like - but be forewarned of being open to hacks and attacks and defacements.

Not really necessary - there are much better ways of securing a Nuke site.

Ummmm that a bit of a concern??

is there somewhere i can get hold of 7.7 then?

and the obvious question, apart from the wysiwyg feature (that i didnt use anyway) what else do i loose?

scratch that... found 7.7 Wink

oh and i checked the missing image file... its not included in the zip lol

THanks for your help though mate...

im going to bed now and im working away all week now Sad

so i will install 7.7 on friday night, hopefully that will work first time.... fingeres crossed Wink

Bad move.

Get this instead:

http://ravenphpscripts.com/viewdownloaddetails-26-242.html

OR:

http://www.nukescripts.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&op=getit&lid=26

As recommended on the front page.

Personally I would go with the Raven Package as it has Sentinel (Security) already integrated.

Hello again Dirk, the good news is i installed RavenNuke, and it went on smoothly no problems at all

cheers mate Wink

thanks for the advice last week, through coming here it looks like ive got a better script Smile im happy so far...

Just need to find out how to add a item to the menu for my live chat... ive a feeling i will have to make a new module
or is there an easier way?
