Upgrade, patch and security
Hello
I have 3 questions for you guys! First of all,my homepage adress is as follows:
http://www.osonder.no
1: I'm not totally shure which version I'm running. I think it is 7.6. Is it a way to find this out?
2: Should I keep running 7.6, or is it another free version that is better regarding security?
3: My webpage with PhpNuke have been hacked by some Turkish people. How can I increase the security so they can't hack my homepage?
Best regards Oyvind

2. 7.6 currently is the most secure nuke version. However, there are variations of this version, check on the hompage underneath the yellow warning signs for recommended versions.
3. Either install one of the recommended versions. Or, install Sentinel:

Ok. Thanx!! What will be the best?
Well patching overwrites most core files so is a big job if you have existing file modifications.
Sentinel is a simpler option but you obviously miss out on any fixes that the patches include.
Your decision really.
Ok. So if I understand you right:
- If I have modified 7.6, patching will be mutch work
- But if I have a clean 7.6 installation, just with added blocks and modules, the patching job will be easy?
yep, thats the sum of it, just make sure you follow the correct upgrade procedures as set out in the readme files. and back up all database's before you proceed
Ok. Thanks a lot

Would it bee an even better idea to do both?
Now I have patched my 7.6 to latest version. But all the blocks I had on right side is gone. Where can I activate these again?
My site is:
