PHP-Nuke Newbie - Complete phpnuke newbie? want to ask a question before installing? or have installed and are now confused? this is the place.

Transferring PHPBB to nuke via nukesqlphpbb tool

Just to confirm that this should work, before I spend the evening doing so.

From experimentation and from reading through forums here and elsewhere it seems that nukesqlphpbb really dislikes the 3.1 patch, leaving me the blank page error after hitting the import link (as described in this thread)

So to avoid this problem I need to transfer the existing tables from my phpbb 2.0.21 board, to the nuke database before I apply the 3.1 patch, i.e. between the two following steps in your guide.

Code: :
You have fully installed PHP-Nuke 7.6pl3.1. All files on your server are up-to-date. But, your database isn't yet.
You also have upload a file called upgrade.php and upgrade17-18.php

-->> TRANSFER TABLES HERE <<--

The first one:
To update your database to pl3.1 excute this file in your browser.
http://www.YOUR-WEBSITE.com/upgrade.php

Then apply the 3.1 patch afterwards. Am I correct? Should this work and get all the posts from my board across and working in the new Nuke install? or do I need to do some updates to the phpbb forums themselves before I can transfer the files across?

Also the latest version of phpbb is 2.0.21 yet the latest version Nuke uses seems to be 2.0.19. Should the tables from my 2.0.21 board work ok with the 2.0.19 Nuke version?

I am a noob at all this and it's very confusing with so many different versions, patches, tools and scripts needed to get a site up and running. So any help would be very gratefully received.

/Ruud

Try transferring the phpbb db using this tool: http://www.nukeresources.com/downloadview-details-826-phpBB_to_PHP-Nuke_NukeSQL.html

I'm not certain if it will work with your version (2.0.21) so backup your DB first. After you have transferred it, you can apply the patch.

If it's a new install, why don't you try one of the recommended versions? You can find them on this sites homepage.

Nice one Cypher, I will give it a try.

As far as I knew I was using one of the recommended versions. I spent the weekend working with 7.9 from the phpnuke.org homepage but had little success. So I came here and grabbed the top one of the two recommended versions on your frontpage. This is the version I am currently trying to install.

I will do some more fiddling about with the install and table transfer and see if I can get it working. If not expect to hear frm me soon Smile

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.
