Sentinel installation - can't make sense of core file edits

Sorry, but I am confused about the edits required for my installation
Currently running 7.5 patched to 3.2b (patched with file 75patched3dot2b).
Trying to install NukeSentinel_2500_70-79, I have got as far as running the install which has worked okay, and Sentinel appears as an inactive module when I go in to admin.php.
So now I am looking at the file edits required.
The readme for the different files states the code to search for and replace or edit. It also states that 'my' code may be different to the 'readme', or txt file for each core file to edit, and my code is 'different', but it doesn't seem clear to me bearing in mind these differences which are the key bits of code to change?
Looking at the online manual the instructions there are different again to what I have either in the readme or in my files.
So, I am worried in case I edit the wrong code, or delete code that may be required.
Am I worrying too much?
I have a full back-up prior to attempting the installation of Sentinel, but as a non-coder I don't want to introduce errors that may cause further problems!
Cheers for any tips.

I think you'd be better off asking this question over at ravens, including the edits that are causing you problems.
