PHP-Nuke not posting cookies on local install.
Hi Everyone!
I have just installed PHP-Nuke 7.6 to run locally, and everything seems to be running fine, other than the fact that it does not want to place a cookie on my HDD. When I login though admin.php, I get the Admin CP, but as soon as I click on anything, I am prompted to login again.
This is great to pass the time when I am bored, but it's not helping me develop my site...
I had it running before, but I had to revert to a previous harddrive backup, and like a muppet, I forgot to backup my website.
Would anyone know what the problem could be? Could it be anything to do with my PHP config?
Best wishes, and thanks in advance.
Ok, I have been playing with my firewall (Norton Internet Security), and I have noticed that I can use my site locally, normally when I disable the 'security' option.
It's quite strange as I didn't have to do this before, so I am looking into it now, and I will report back with my solution once I have solved the problem.
I'm sure there have been users around here that have noticed the same problem.
I'm sure I emember seeing it.
I tried to find something related to it, but failed. I am probably not searching for the correct term.
What baffles me is why I didn't go through this before.
Searching for just firewall seems to kick up several posts about it.
It's not something I've ever had an issue with, but then again I dont use norton.
I will have a look at the results. Maybe it's been too much of a long day today, or I just haven't had enough nicotine and caffiene, but my brain is seriously not working today. Well, not working as in usually it's a little bit quicker than this.
I never thought of just using "firewall" as a search term, but then again, I didn't even think it was my firewal until I disabled it and everything jumped to life. It's always the last thing you think of...
Thanks dar32.
No worries fuzzythree.

Ok. I ran a forum search for 'firewall local*', and the best result I got, was this link:

There is no doubt about it that it's my firewall, so for anyone else who happens to come across this post with the same problem, disable your firewall, and then try to access your local test site. Alternatively, you might enjoy logging in, clicking and link and then logging in again.
I can only conclude that you should RTFM for your firewall, or contact the author of your firewall software if you do find that the problem is caused by the firewall, but can't seem to fix it. Alternatively, you can ask my good friend Mr. Google, who offers free, impartial advice. Mr Google can be located at www.google.com.
Best wishes.

Oh, and thanks for your help dar63.
Here is a link I found useful which covers the configuration of some of the most common firewalls, such as Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm, and Windows Firewall.

A user by the name of 'jegelstaff' has been kind enough to document the steps taken to add the website in question to your trusted sites. Be it a local website or a remote website.
For those of you who don't know this, xoops is an open source website software, similar to PHP-Nuke, but it revolves heavily around OOP (Object Oriented Programming), which they believe makes it easier to maintain as you test each newly created object, and don't need to test the old objects as each object is pretty much independent of all the others...
I hope this is useful.
