Admin login problem

Hi all

A website that I admin (Nuke 6.4) is suddenly having a strange problem. I can use the site without any problems, but when I log into admin successfully, it goes to admin.php as usual, but the page that shows is "Page cannot be displayed".

From that point onward I am unable to view the entire site (page cannot be displayed), at all. The only page I can view is the intro page, which is plain HTML. If I delete my temp internet files and cookies, I can then browse the site as normal. It's almost like my admin account is broken in some way, and when that's stored into my cookie, the site won't even display.

I'm currently working on creating a new site in 7.6 (patched) but in the meantime I need to get our existing site working. I've searched the forums, but not found anything similar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys
Mal.

6.4? there is no such version. Shocked

In answer to your query though I've no idea why it is happening and therefore do not know what to suggest, sorry. Sad

Hi Dar

Sorry, I must be wrong with the version number, but as I can't login to admin I can't check the version number, sorry. I hope you can help me anyway. I do know that it's version 6.5 and that it's old lol.

I have had a look through the MySQL database (4.x) etc, and the Nuke_Nsnst_Admins table looks a bit sparse...

There are 4 user accounts in the table under the AID and LOGIN columns (same name in both). None of them are filled out in the password, password_MD5 or Password_Crypt fields, they are empty. Only my account and one other account has the number "1" in the protected field, and the other two accounts have "0".

Any idea if anything here sounds wrong? I'm unsure if the other admins are able to login as I haven't heard from them in the last few days.

Thanks in advance

Mal.

Could try http://phpnuke-uk.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=655

Thanks Dar, but unfortunately no Joy with that solution.

It would seem that ALL admins are affected, as none of us can log in. This doesn't affect our normal user accounts, it's just logging into admin that's a problem. If we put in the wrong password, the login page refreshes, but with the correct password we experience the problem I've highlighed above.

Therefore, it would seem that we are being authenticated, but at that point it all goes horribly wrong. Not only does the Admin.php page come up with a page cannot be displayed message, but every PHP page on the entire site does. If we clear the cookie that's created after logging into admin, we can then access the site fine.

Before all this went wrong, I was discussing some database administration to improve the speed of the site as it's been getting slow lately. Another admin suggested that he may try a DB Optimisation, but as I've not been able to speak to him I don't know if he did that. It's obvious that something has messed up though as a result of some work that's been done on either the database or site.

Are there any problems associated with the DB Optimiser that may result in DB problems? Are there any tables that I could restore to defaults (from fresh 6.5 installation) that may resolve the issues?

Anything you could think of would be helpful at this point, as we've now not been able to admin the site for about a fortnight.

Thanks very much in advance.

Mal.

Anyone have any more ideas?

Thanks
Mal

No idea but if you want to pm me the access info to your hosting control panel I'll go take a look and see if I can spot anything unusual in your db.

Thanks Dar

I have PM'd you the login information.

Thanks for your help mate.

Mal.
