What do you mean it doesn't work, theres nothing that can go wrong unless your host doesn't allow multimedia files. All you have to do is upload the MP3 file through your FTP program like you would do for a normal HTML file. Then link to the file like a normal HTML file, e.g. www.domain.com/songname.mp3.
