PHP-Nuke Newbie - Complete phpnuke newbie? want to ask a question before installing? or have installed and are now confused? this is the place.

Moving the main folder

Hi,

I recently installed my php nuke in a sub folder of my site...something like:

/main/html/

The link is to confusing, so I want to change the folder to just /main/, without the /html/ folder.

If I just download the files an reupload all the files to the /main/ folder, will I lose any data? Will it work? Will it screw up the database? Will I have to change something in the database, if so how?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Just move your existing files into the /main dir using your ftp program.

Even better just move it entirely up into the main url root dir and not have it in any folder.

i remember trying this when i first had a phpnuke site. i installed it into a folder called something like /cms, and, thinking the url was confusing, just moved it via ftp into the foot folder. it does not upset links within the site.

Don't forget to update the settings in Admin / Preferences and Admin / Forums / Configuration...
