Multiple usergroup mods
Hi,
I was wondering if there are any out of the box solutions for a particular issue I'm having with the site I'm involved in (www.oldageplaystationers.com)
basically, we have two different sorts of membership.....
1) Anyone can join - limited access to the forums (phpbb2)
2) Full access where - members can access all areas.
What I'd like is for our group 'mods' to be able to add to a usergroup without being admins of the forum or of the board.
We use one usergroup which only 'full' members are added to. But there are only three people who are able to add new members to teh group, which is a pain in the arse.
If any one has any ideas I'd be most grateful
Kroy.
Can't say I've heard of this sort of mod... you have to be an admin of the board or at the very least a group moderator to be able to add people to user groups.....
Watch Dashe or Dar go and prove me wrong now
Nice Site BTW

Thanks Dirk, glad you like the site. It's one hell of a community that has sparked up, defo thanks to PHPBB2 (where we started) and now to PHPnuke!
Maybe it's a custom job then. If it were possible to give non admins or non group mods the power to add to a usergroup? hmmm. is there anyway to have more than one usegroup mod?
Pretty sure you can only have one group moderator.....
What you could do though is setup a couple of groups and have a certain person as the group moderator and give the different groups the relevant permissions - this being the whole idea behind having groups of course

hmmm, I hadn't thought of that option, but that's cause I'm trying to keep everything in one group. However, if there is NO way to have more than one group moderator, I'll speak to the guys and see if they think having more than one group works. They may say that it will be too tricky to keep track of everone...
thanks for your ideas though!
You can only have one group moderator per group - just tried it on my site.
It is easy to keep track of everyone with the right mods / hacks installed
I have for example a "Protector" mod installed that tells me the IP of EVERY Visitor and exactly where on the site they were, not just the IP for forum visitors
